In a gesture of solidarity and support for the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia officially donated 50 metric tons of dates to Sri Lanka.
The handover ceremony took place at the Saudi Embassy in Colombo, led by Saudi Ambassador Khalid bin Hamoud Al‑Qahtani.
The donation, made through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), was received by Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Muneer Mulaffer.
Deputy Minister Mulaffer expressed that the donation reinforces the long-standing friendship between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
He appreciated KSrelief’s ongoing support to the Muslim community during Ramadan and expressed hope that the cooperation will continue to strengthen in the future.
The donated dates are scheduled to be distributed to families in need across Sri Lanka through various Muslim religious institutions, ensuring that the spirit of charity and community support is upheld during this sacred month.
