The Department of Meteorology reports that a low-level atmospheric disturbance continues to persist east of Sri Lanka, bringing rain and thundershowers to the Northern, North-Central, and Eastern provinces.
Heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is expected in parts of the Northern Province and Trincomalee, while other regions may see showers after 1 p.m., with fairly heavy falls above 75 mm in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces.
Misty conditions are also likely in several areas during early morning hours.
The public is advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning.
