A fire had broken out in a textile shop in a three-storey building, located along the Colombo-Kandy main road in Kadawatha, the Police stated.

Three fire trucks and several firefighters from the Colombo and Gampaha fire brigades joined in dousing the flames. The fire was brought under control. Officers of the Kadawatha Police and Special Task Force personnel from the Eldeniya camp were deployed to secure the area.
