Sri Lanka’s overall inflation rate, measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), rose to 8.1% in August 2026 from 7.2% in July, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

Food inflation increased to 6.6% in August from 4.9% in July.

Non-food inflation also increased, reaching 9.3% in August compared with 9.2% in the previous month.
