Global demand for Sri Lankan agricultural products has increased significantly, according to the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship.

Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe said exports of agricultural products grew by 20 percent last year, reflecting a sharp rise in international demand.

Coconut-based products recorded the highest share, accounting for 42 percent of agricultural exports. Fruit exports accounted for 21 percent, while vegetables contributed 20 percent.

The Deputy Minister said Sri Lanka is expected to see increased investment in the agricultural sector in the coming years.

He added that the government plans to provide greater opportunities and support for organic products as part of efforts to further expand the country’s agricultural exports.
