Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that the Government plans to utilise the natural resources of the Eastern Province to develop offshore and onshore wind power, ground mount solar panel/s for renewable energy integration, and green hydrogen development.

Wijesekera said that he has held talks on energy sector development plans for the Eastern Province with the province’s Governor Senthil Thondaman recently.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the Minister mentioned that the Governor assured his fullest cooperation to develop the sector with the necessary approvals required as well as the identification of suitable land.
