Sri Lanka’s digital payment platform GovPay has successfully onboarded over 50 Government institutions, enabling more than 700 digital public services and collecting Rs. 65.62 million in revenue, the Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) announced.
The initiative, guided by the Ministry of Digital Economy and supported by LankaPay, is driving the country’s vision for a cashless, transparent, and efficient public service system.
The announcement was made during a media briefing highlighting GovPay’s progress and the launch of its upgraded website. Officials also presented the pilot rollout of the online traffic fine payment system, now active across select divisions and having already processed 461 transactions worth Rs. 739,500.
Deputy Digital Economy Minister Eranga Weeraratne and ICTA Chair Hans Wijesuriya noted that the next goal is to onboard over 100 institutions and achieve Rs. 1 billion in transactions within a year. LankaPay also revealed plans to introduce card payment support, including for overseas users.
GovPay is expected to expand to over 150 institutions by year’s end, marking a major stride in Sri Lanka’s USD 15 billion digital economy ambition.
