President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has concluded his first official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, marking a pivotal step in deepening bilateral ties and economic cooperation between the two nations.
The visit, held from 11 June, included a ceremonial welcome by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with discussions focusing on vocational training, tourism development, and Sri Lanka’s progress in economic recovery and reconciliation.
Key meetings were held with German Foreign Minister Dr. Johann Wadephul and Development Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan, where President Dissanayake highlighted Sri Lanka’s investor-friendly environment and appreciated decades of German assistance.
At a business forum in Berlin, the President invited German investors to explore emerging opportunities in Sri Lanka while also assuring tourism stakeholders of the country’s sustainable industry growth plans.
The Sri Lankan delegation included Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Ambassador Varuni Muthukumarana, and senior officials, underscoring the strategic importance of the visit in Sri Lanka’s international outreach.
