The spill gate of Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya was opened this afternoon (04) following a rapid rise in the lake’s water level due to heavy rainfall.

Boating activities at Gregory Lake have also been temporarily suspended as a safety precaution amid severe weather and dense fog.

Police have urged motorists travelling on the Nuwara Eliya–Badulla, Nuwara Eliya–Hatton and Nuwara Eliya–Kandy roads, as well as the Toppass–Labukele route, to exercise caution due to poor visibility.
