Six people, including three women, have died after a cab crashed into a crowd near a Vesak Dansala at Meegoda Junction in Homagama.

Police said the vehicle veered off the road and struck people who were waiting in a queue before fleeing the scene.

At least 12 injured persons were admitted to Homagama Base Hospital.

The driver of the cab has been arrested in connection with the incident.
