The Sri Lanka Transport Board said train monthly season tickets will be valid on its buses only in areas where train services have been restricted or suspended.
The board noted incidents of passengers attempting to use train season tickets on routes where services are operating normally.
The National Transport Commission said special buses will operate tomorrow morning on the Kandy–Colombo route and will accept train season tickets.
Separately, the Department of Railways said a new double-lane bridge across the Mahaweli River at Peradeniya is under consideration, as the existing structure can no longer be repaired.
