The Ministry of Energy has announced that the process of assigning employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to four newly established, fully state-owned companies has officially commenced.
This marks a key step in implementing the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Act No. 14 of 2025.
According to a ministry statement, employees have begun to submit letters of consent to CEB Chairman Professor Udayanga Hemapala, expressing their willingness to join the newly formed institutions.
The four companies established under the act are the National System Operator (Pvt) Ltd, National Transmission Network Service Provider (Pvt) Ltd, Electricity Distribution Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, and Lanka Power Generation (Pvt) Ltd.
The ministry added that this development indicates the restructuring program is receiving positive support and cooperation from CEB employees.
