Neil Perera dies aged 95

The Panadura Sports Club (SC) recently issued a statement announcing the passing of veteran cricket administrator Neil Perera.

Born on 22 August 1929, Perera was a distinguished member of the Panadura SC since 1948, completing an extraordinary 77 years of membership. 

He served as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) from 1972-’75 and again from 1992-’95, in addition to being its Vice President in the 1980s. 

A former Captain, former President, and Patron of the Panadura SC at the time of his demise, Perera devoted his life to uplifting cricket in Sri Lanka, making remarkable contributions to the development of the sport, particularly in the Panadura area. 

His unparalleled dedication and service leave behind a lasting legacy.

Perera’s remains lie at the Jayaratne Restpect Funeral Parlour in Borella and can be viewed today (26). The funeral will take place today at 4 p.m. at the General Cemetery, Borella.
