A large group of retired war heroes protested at Polduwa Junction today (24), demanding that pensions be granted to their dependents without deductions after their death. 

The demonstration, organized by the National Organization for the Protection of Rights of War Heroes, included former tri-forces and police personnel. 

A tense situation erupted when protesters attempted to march toward Parliament despite police attempts to block them.
