Gross official reserves rise by 4.6%

Sri Lanka’s gross official reserve assets increased by 4.6% to $ 6,905 million by the end of August 2026, latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka shows. At the end of the previous month (July), this value was recorded at $ 6,600 million.

Foreign currency reserves, which are the main component of these reserve assets, increased by 5.1% during August, rising from $ 6,368 million to $ 6,690 million.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank’s gold reserves also achieved a notable growth of 9.5% during the month of August, increasing from $ 192 million to $ 210 million.
