The Ministry of Energy has instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to complete the transfer of its assets to six new companies before 01 February.
Energy Ministry Secretary Prof. Udayanga Hemapala has issued the directive in writing to the CEB General Manager.
The move is part of the CEB restructuring programme, under which all assets will be transferred to the new entities.
Employees have been assigned to the new companies, while others opted for voluntary retirement.
A total of 2,173 employees have applied for retirement, with compensation to be paid by early February.
