Sri Lanka Customs has achieved a historic revenue collection of Rs. 2,497 billion in 2025 to date, surpassing its revised annual target, according to Customs Media Spokesperson and Director of Customs Chandana Punchihewa.

The Ministry of Finance had initially set a revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion for 2025, which was exceeded by November, leading to a revised target of Rs. 2,231 billion. Customs has now surpassed even this revised figure.

Speaking to the media, Punchihewa attributed the sharp increase in revenue to several internal measures implemented by Sri Lanka Customs, as well as the resumption of vehicle imports.

He noted that the previous year’s revenue target was Rs. 1,531 billion, and the significant increase in 2025 was largely driven by policy decisions allowing vehicle imports, combined with enhanced Customs operations.
