Sri Lanka has underscored the need for regional unity and shared growth at the 6th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum in Kunming, China, with Deputy Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra calling on South Asia to harness its collective demographic, cultural, and strategic strengths.
Speaking at the forum, Hemachandra invited Chinese and regional partners to invest in key Sri Lankan sectors including infrastructure, technology, green energy, tourism, and agriculture.
Sri Lanka was featured as the Theme Country at this year’s China-South Asia Exposition. A Sri Lanka Pavilion was inaugurated by Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe, who also delivered a keynote speech, promoting trade and cultural ties.
Bilateral discussions were held with Yunnan’s Vice Governor, exploring collaboration in agriculture, tourism, apparel, and floriculture. Sri Lanka’s showcase included gems, tea, spices, and wellness products aimed at boosting exports and regional connectivity.
