Bimal Rathnayake has been appointed Chair of the Sri Lanka-China Parliamentary Friendship Association. 

The election, held on 21 March, also saw MP Lakmali Hemachandra appointed as Secretary.

Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong attended as the chief guest. Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne emphasised strengthening bilateral relations, while Rathnayake acknowledged China’s support and called for enhanced cooperation in various sectors.

The event was attended by key political figures, including the Leader of the Opposition.
