‘Sarvajana Balaya’ leader MP Dilith Jayaweera criticised the Government in Parliament, urging it to stop spreading lies and instead use its powers to address the people’s real concerns.
He accused the National People’s Power (NPP) of the administration of underestimating public awareness and misleading citizens about the country's economic state.
Jayaweera claimed that nearly 70% of eligible voters did not support the Government in the recent Local Government (LG) election, calling it a clear message from the suffering poor.
He urged the Government to prioritise urgent issues like the economy, national security, and cultural preservation.
Despite his criticism, Jayaweera expressed willingness to support progressive efforts to reform Sri Lanka’s political culture.
