Police have seized two luxury vehicles valued at over Rs. 30 million, suspected to have been illegally imported into Sri Lanka. The vehicles are reportedly owned by a close associate of a prominent politician in the Kalutara District.
The Panadura Walana Anti-Vice Unit and the Western Province Intelligence Bureau (WPIB) recovered a Montero jeep and a Caravan van during operations in Bandaragama and Millaniya, Horana.
Investigations revealed one of the vehicles was using a registration number already assigned to another legally registered van, while the Montero’s registration had been manipulated in the Motor Traffic Department’s system.
Further inquiries are underway.
