The Irrigation Department has urged the public to use water sparingly amid prevailing dry weather conditions.

Director L.S. Sooriyabandara stated that water levels in major rivers remain around 75%, with sufficient supply for the current cultivation season.

He noted a risk of saltwater intrusion in rivers such as Nilwala, Kelani, and Kalu.

The public has been advised to use water with care.
