Organised crime figure and alleged drug trafficker Arumahandi Janith Madhusankha de Silva, known as “Podi Lassie,” was brought back to Sri Lanka from India today (27). 

A special police team coordinated his return, following his arrest by Indian authorities in Mumbai in January 2025, with the help of Interpol and diplomatic efforts. 

After reportedly fleeing to India by sea on bail in December 2024, he was captured and is now in custody. 

He was flown into Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and is being held for further investigation by the Elpitiya Crimes Division.
