• At Lightning Cup International Badminton C’ships 

The Sri Lankan Masters badminton team produced an impressive performance at the third edition of the Lightning Cup International Badminton Championships 2026 in Malaysia, securing a total of 40 medals, including 10 gold, 10 silver and 20 bronze.

The international championship was held from 3 to 6 September at the Pavilion Hall, Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, Resorts World Genting, Malaysia, bringing together Masters badminton players from several countries.

Sri Lankan players displayed their experience and competitive strength throughout the championship, winning medals across several events.

Thushari Brahmanage and Renu Chandrika were among Sri Lanka’s standout performers, each securing two gold medals and one bronze. Nadeesha contributed one gold and two silver medals.

Rohan De Silva won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, while Lakshmi secured one gold, two silver and one bronze. Frits also made a strong contribution with one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Unang Rahamat added another gold medal to Sri Lanka’s tally, while Marlev secured one gold and one bronze.

In the silver-medal category, Andi Mawardi won one silver, while Hellen secured two silver and one bronze. Kaushali contributed one silver medal.

Among the bronze-medal winners were Amila Yatapana, who secured three bronze medals, along with Manjula Perera, Anil Kumar, Mangala, Rudianto, Jagath Ramanayaka and Chong Yew.

Sri Lanka’s overall medal tally at the championship stood at 10 gold, 10 silver and 20 bronze medals, underlining the experience, competitiveness and commitment of the country’s Masters badminton players on the international stage.
