The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on Friday (23) commissioned several new buildings at its Ratmalana complex, which will house the new Faculties of Law, Management, Social Sciences, and Humanities. A Headquarters Complex and a female accommodation complex were also declared open. 

Ministry of Defence Secretary Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne attended the event as the Chief Guest. KDU Chancellor Gen. (Retd) Shantha Kottegoda and Vice Chancellor Maj. Gen. (Retd) Milinda Peiris, commanders of the three armed forces, the Inspector General of Police, and senior KDU officials were present for the opening.
