The Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday (3) ordered the release of the former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara from the case filed over the alleged assault of a lift operator at the Police Headquarters (HQ). 

Jayasundara was charged with assaulting a lift operator at the Police HQ in 2017 and was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department over the incident.
