The low-pressure area over Sri Lanka continues, bringing cloudy skies across the island, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Frequent showers or thundershowers are expected in the Northern, North-Central, and Eastern provinces, while other areas may experience rainfall after 1 p.m.

Heavy rain exceeding 100 mm is likely in the Northern and Eastern provinces, with fairly heavy showers over 75 mm possible elsewhere.

Misty conditions are also expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces during early morning hours.

The public is urged to take precautions against strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
