In a swift two-hour police operation at the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre, a total of 80 individuals were arrested, authorities announced.
The operation involved officers from Dambulla and nearby police stations, aiming to curb recent anti-social activities in the area.
Police reports revealed that several of those detained were found in possession of narcotics, including cannabis and heroin. Among the arrests were individuals who had previously evaded court proceedings for various offenses.
The operation was launched in response to a series of troubling incidents, such as repeated thefts of farmers’ vegetable stocks and the removal of vehicle parts, highlighting ongoing concerns over safety and law enforcement in the region.
