Sri Lanka and the European Union will hold the 27th session of the EU-Sri Lanka Joint Commission in Colombo on 12 February, the latest round of structured bilateral engagement between the two sides.
The meeting will bring together senior officials to review the state of relations and assess progress across a broad agenda that includes governance, human rights, trade, development cooperation, and other bilateral and regional priorities. The session is expected to focus on identifying areas for deeper collaboration and aligning next steps within the existing partnership framework.
The Joint Commission will be co-chaired by Aruni Ranaraja, Secretary to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, and Paola Pampaloni, Acting Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service.
In addition to the formal Joint Commission session, the visiting EU delegation is scheduled to meet with senior Sri Lankan dignitaries. These discussions are expected to cover collaborative approaches and practical measures to advance cooperation in priority areas identified by both sides.
The EU-Sri Lanka Joint Commission serves as the principal institutional mechanism for overseeing bilateral relations, providing a platform for regular dialogue on political, economic, and development-related issues.
