Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has alleged that the government is intentionally delaying Provincial Council elections due to concerns over recent election results.
Speaking at a meeting with former provincial councillors today (6), Premadasa claimed the government is reluctant to face the public.
He further alleged that fears of losing more votes are behind the delay in holding Provincial Council polls.
Premadasa said conducting the elections would help uphold democratic principles and allow the public to express their views through the electoral process.
