Easter attacks case: Foreign travel barred for Gota, 2 military officers

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and two military officers have been barred from travelling overseas in connection with ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. 

The order was issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena when the case concerning the Easter Sunday terror attacks was taken up yesterday (03). Accordingly, the Court has imposed a foreign travel ban on Rajapaksa and the two said military officers pending further proceedings in the case.

The case also has named the former Director of the State Intelligence Service, retired Major General Suresh Sallay, as a suspect in relation to the investigations.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has issued notice to the Criminal Investigation Department to present facts today (04) regarding a motion filed on behalf of Sallay, who has been named as the third suspect in the investigation into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks. The order was issued by Magistrate Amarasena when the case was called before the Court yesterday.
