The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will operate 107 additional buses from 24 to 27 December to meet heightened passenger demand during the festive season, SLTB Chairman Sajeewa Nandana announced.
The special services will run on major routes including Colombo to Gampaha, Kalutara, Ruhuna, Uva, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Rajarata, Eastern, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northern regions.
Additional buses will be deployed daily based on demand: 75 on 24–25 December, 60 on 26 December, and 52 on 27 December.
Buses will operate at two-hour intervals from midnight, with special police security at key stops in Gunasinghepura and Colombo.
The ‘Sisu Sariya’ service will provide free transport for schoolchildren in disaster-affected areas throughout December.
Passengers can access information through the 1958 hotline, operational 24/7 during the festive period.
