The Department of Wildlife Conservation says several national parks that were closed due to the recent severe weather will reopen to visitors from today (1).
Wilpattu, Kumana, Horton Plains, Minneriya, Kaudulla, and Yala (except Block VI) were closed on 28 November after heavy rains caused flooding and unsafe conditions.
With water levels receding and access roads restored, the department confirmed that Kumana, Horton Plains, and Yala Block V will reopen to day visitors tomorrow.
Updates on the reopening of the remaining parks will be announced following ongoing safety evaluations.
