An awareness program on Sri Lanka’s Draft National Research and Development Policy successfully concluded in Colombo this week, drawing participation from policymakers, academics, and industry professionals.
Held at Temple Trees, the event was jointly organized by the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Science and Technology to highlight the policy’s role in promoting a knowledge-driven economy.
Over 650 participants took part in the forum, which focused on enhancing national innovation, increasing investment in R&D, and aligning research with national priorities.
Speakers emphasised the need for inclusivity, transparency, and strategic collaboration between government, academia, and the private sector to strengthen Sri Lanka’s research ecosystem.
The draft policy aims to guide the country’s science and technology development in the coming years, with a strong emphasis on practical application and global competitiveness.
