The Department of Meteorology has issued a Red advisory for heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas affecting sea areas from Kankesanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar.

The advisory, issued today (11), is valid until 10.30 a.m. tomorrow (12).

Winds of 50–60 kmph and rough sea conditions with waves up to 2.5 metres are expected in several coastal areas, including Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Trincomalee sea zones.

Naval and fishing communities have been advised to exercise caution during sea activities.
