President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, has issued a new gazette notification revising the tax payment period and levy regulations on alcoholic products, effective from today (28).

Under the new directive, all licensees must pay taxes on or before the due date as outlined in Section 22 of the Excise Ordinance.

The gazette further states that the bottling licence of any licensee who fails to pay the required taxes or fees within 30 days of the due date will be suspended.
