The Governments of Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea have formally exchanged signed debt restructuring amendment agreements for 18 loans extended through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), amounting to approximately $ 267 million.
The exchange took place during the 2026 EDCF Policy Dialogue held on 28 April at the Randora Auditorium, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Colombo. The high-level meeting was co-chaired by both nations and served as a platform to review bilateral development partnerships and address ongoing infrastructure projects following recent economic shifts.
“This administrative milestone underscores the commitment of both nations to maintaining the momentum of development assistance amidst Sri Lanka’s evolving economic landscape and debt restructuring process,” the Ministry of Finance said following the meeting.
