Venerable Pannakara Thero met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat following the conclusion of the seven-day “Ehipassiko” Peace Walk.
He expressed gratitude for state patronage in organising the event and noted its role in sharing a message of peace globally.
The Thero also appreciated the presentation of a Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi sapling to a Dhamma project in Texas, USA, and permission to exhibit sacred Buddha relics at an international Vesak event.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that efforts will continue to sustain the Buddhist revival created through the Peace Walk and promote Sri Lanka as an island of peace.
Several religious leaders and government officials were present, the President’s Media Division noted.
