Sections of the Polonnaruwa–Batticaloa main road are under water due to rising levels of the Mahaweli River following heavy rain in upper catchment areas.

Two locations between Gallella and Manampitiya have been submerged, authorities stated.

Vehicular movement has been disrupted, and drivers are advised to exercise caution.

Further flooding is possible if upstream rainfall continues, authorities noted.
