Passenger train services on the Upcountry line between Nanu Oya and Badulla resumed today (20) after a seven-month suspension.
Services had been halted due to landslide damage near Parakumpura on the Ambewela–Nanu Oya section.
The ‘Podi Menike’ resumed operations from Nanu Oya after restoration work by railway authorities, with assistance from the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO).
Officials said full Colombo–Badulla train operations are expected to resume later this year.
