The Welfare Benefits Board announced that April’s welfare allowance under the ‘Aswesuma’ program has been credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts starting today (11).

This month’s disbursement includes increased allowances introduced in the 2025 Budget, including payments for elderly recipients.

A total of Rs. 12.63 billion has been allocated to support 1,737,141 eligible families.

Accordingly, Rs. 2.9 billion has been deposited into the accounts of 580,944 individuals aged over 70 within those families.
