Education Minister Susil Premajayantha has been elected to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Board of Directors, representing the Asia Pacific region.
The Minister was elected by obtaining a majority of 144 votes out of 188 countries with a high percentage of 76 per cent.
Accordingly, Minister Premajayantha was elected to the UNESCO Board of Directors this year at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.
