Five suspects have been arrested for allegedly carrying out illegal excavations in search of artifacts in the Thalpotha area of Hingurakgoda.

Police stated that the suspects were arrested yesterday (6) during a raid conducted by Hingurakgoda Police based on information received regarding the illegal excavations.

The suspects, aged 19, 26, 45, 47 and 49, are residents of Polonnaruwa and Pulasthigama.

Further investigations are being conducted by Hingurakgoda Police.
