SriLankan warns of scams

09 Apr 2026

SriLankan Airlines informed the public of a serious escalation in ongoing scam activities targeting passengers and potential customers.

The Airline has identified incidents of individuals impersonating SriLankan Airlines staff, via WhatsApp and direct phone calls. During these interactions, scammers may request recipients to install mobile applications, share their screen or disclose one-time passwords (OTPs), banking personal identification numbers (PINs), credit card details or other sensitive financial information.

SriLankan Airlines does not contact customers via WhatsApp or make unsolicited calls for ticketing, promotions or any other purpose. The Airline will never request OTPs, banking PINs, credit card details, or any confidential information, nor will it ask customers to share screens or install mobile applications.

Customers are advised to remain vigilant and to disregard and/or report any such communication to the relevant authorities.

Passengers and the general public are urged to verify all promotions, offers and communications through the Airline’s official website www.srilankan.com or its verified social media channels.
