SL-Japan relations: President attends Expo 2025 in Japan

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, on an official visit to Japan at the invitation of the Government of Japan, attended the Sri Lanka Day celebrations at the Expo 2025 exhibition yesterday (27) as the first engagement of his visit. 

President Dissanayake had arrived yesterday morning at the Kansai International Airport in Osaka.

The event was organised jointly by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan. 

During the event, the President also toured the Sri Lanka and Japan exhibition pavilions, observing the innovative projects and collaborative initiatives presented by both countries. 

Addressing the gathering, President Dissanayake highlighted the significance of Expo 2025 as a global platform for Sri Lanka to share its vision for a prosperous future rooted in culture, innovation, and human values.

The President stated: “Friendship is one of the most valuable bonds of humanity. It unites individuals, communities, and cultures. It transcends boundaries and fosters human relationships. Moreover, it brings nations together through common goals to build a better world.”  

He further stressed Japan’s consistent support for Sri Lanka during challenging times and its partnership in celebrating the country’s successes.
