A Sri Lankan national has been arrested in Indonesia after authorities found 101 birds allegedly being smuggled out of the country.

The birds were reportedly concealed in 15 small boxes inside a suitcase at an airport in Banten.

Some of the species are reportedly protected under Indonesian conservation laws.

Indonesian authorities are investigating the incident.
