Sri Lanka and Thailand have discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in health, education, technology, agriculture and the economy.
The discussions took place on 28 October between Health and Mass Media Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa and Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Prof. Yodchanan Wongsawat, in Bangkok.
The two sides explored using artificial intelligence and other modern technologies to improve healthcare services, exchanging technical expertise, and expanding student, academic and research exchanges.
They also discussed technology support for agriculture, irrigation and water management, attracting Thai investment to Sri Lanka, and jointly promoting tourism.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening the countries’ longstanding religious, social and cultural ties based on their shared Theravada Buddhist heritage.
