The Opposition is scheduled to submit a no-confidence motion against Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne today (9).

The motion has been drafted based on 49 allegations concerning the Speaker’s conduct in handling parliamentary proceedings.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has also alleged that the Speaker rejected privilege questions and motions submitted by the party without providing reasonable grounds.

SJB MP Ajith P. Perera stated that the motion, signed by Opposition MPs, would be handed over to the Secretary-General of Parliament today.
