Prime Minister (PM)Harini Amarasuriya says all sectors must work together to empower local entrepreneurs as Sri Lanka moves toward a digital economy.
Speaking at the launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2025 at Temple Trees, she highlighted the need for creativity, innovation, and a strong support system to drive economic diversification and youth development.
The Prime Minister noted that despite a digitally literate youth population, challenges such as limited capital and mentorship persist. She outlined government initiatives including a Digital Task Force, upgraded digital education facilities, and a Rs. 1.5 billion Start-Up Fund under the 2026 Budget.
New measures such as a Digital Economy Act, Unified Digital Identity system, and expanded digital infrastructure aim to accelerate the digital transformation.
She emphasised that government, industry, academia, and entrepreneurs must work together for national progress.
