Former Wesley cricketer turned golfer, Capt. Navin de Silva won the Gross Winner at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) Millennium Trophy 2023 which took place at the Hill Country course recently.

Capt. Navin de Silva and former Thomian cricketer, Ken de Alwis both finished the tournament with a Gross score of 22 strokes. However, Capt. Navin de Silva was declared winner through the count-back method.

In the Nett event, Suresh Jayasekeran won the event with Surain Premathilake clinched the Nett Runner-Up position adding one more trophy under his belt at the NEGC event after earlier winning the Monthly medal event.

Capt. Navin de Silva also won the award for the Nearest to the PIN, securing his dominance in the green. This was decided in the 17th hole for all players.

Meanwhile the former Trinitian, Surain Premathilake who accounted for the Monthly Medal earlier was in sparkling form winning the Longest Drive performance with a mammoth 270 yards in the very first hole.

The weekend's golf events were well organised by the NEGC with the Secretary, Brig. Nanda Hathurusinghe leading from the front.
